Sign of the Month- Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star

February 27, 2013momstownRecessNo comments

This month’s theme at momstown is Space.  Have you seen our amazing crafts or yummy space snacks?  What better song to represent the sky and space, than “Twinkle Twinkle Little Star”.

Children love songs with actions, that’s why signing songs is a fun and engaging way to encourage children to learn signs. The best way to start signing a song is to just pick a few key words in the song. You don’t have to sign the whole song. You can even sign just one word in the song at first. For example, the song Twinkle, Twinkle, Little Star, just start by signing the word ‘star’. Then when you’re comfortable with that you can add more signs like ‘twinkle’ and ‘world’. You’ll find it an entertaining and fun way to sing songs. Adding the element of movement, or signing, is a great activity that your child will love!
