Description

Introducing our newest momstown Meals contributor, Rebecca from A Little Bit of Momsense who will be blogging monthly for us. In time for Father's Day, here's a great idea to get your kids to help with Daddy's breakfast in bed this Sunday:

yogurt parfait

Sometimes, simple is best with our kids. Do you find that the meals they eat the most are the easy ones? Pancakes?  Small portions of vegetables, bland chicken and cheese cubes?  Basic is sometimes best.

We’ve found a fun way to make it seem like we are spicing up breakfast or snack time, but really, we are keeping it simple and just adding some fun.

Try a yogurt parfait buffet!

In a cup or bowl add some vanilla yogurt (or a kind of your choice).

Fill small bowls with favourite parfait options.  Use granola, nuts, frozen or fresh berries.

Let the kids scoop from their favourite options and add it into their yogurt.

My kids have become excited about having choices and I think they feel independent. Involving them with food is a great way to encourage them to care about food choices and their health.

Enjoy, have fun, and watch them go back for seconds!
