Hosting the Perfect Baby Shower
My sister Heather is about 3 weeks away from becoming a mom, and about to make me an auntie for the very first time! Because she has been there for me through everything in my life, I wanted to make sure I threw her a really nice baby shower. Also, throwing a great party on a budget is a challenge I always look forward to!
My co-host Angela and I started planning many months ago, sitting down with the mom-to-be to go over all of her lavish ideas for the perfect baby shower. This included lots of soft pinks, purples and yellows, an outdoor picnic venue, and lots of great company and food! Easy peasy! Right?

Tips for Hosting a Great Baby Shower:
1. Take the help!
Thankfully for me, I had several people who offered to help. What can I bring? Is there anything I can do to help? The answer to these questions in the past was a very polite "no, thank you, its all under control", as I like people to think I have it all together, although this time....no shame....there was no way I was going to pull this off without help.
2. Delegate!
Delegating out the work was the best thing I could have done. I was responsible for the main part of the menu (burgers, hot dogs, cake, drinks etc), although I had everyone who asked bring a salad! Perfect. One guest even brought this adorable Baby Stroller Watermelon! The food was looked after, on to the decorations. After a quick stop at my local party store I had everything I needed. Except, being outside, I wanted to ensure we were able to fill the space with decorations. (Much harder to do then being in a nice intimate room). All I could think of was balloons, but my co-host Angela, had a brilliant idea, from surfing through baby shower ideas on pinterest...tissue paper balls! Absolute genius! She was able to make about 10 of them for $7.00 and they certainly filled the space, and made it look super elegant!
3. Keep it Simple!
You can go nuts searching online for the best baby shower games, or make these amazing but time consuming candy pacifiers for your guests, but we found that most people just wanted to enjoy the food, company and seeing all the gifts mom-to-be and Baby Girl Harris were showered with!
4. Get a gift that the new mom can REALLY use!
My sister did receive a pink tutu for her new baby daughter, but she also got some perfectly practical gifts that she loved! She needed so many things for the baby and who best to decided her "must-haves", than a bunch of moms! We loved these suggestions from momstown moms, for the perfect Baby Shower Gift.
All in all, we pulled off a beautiful baby girl shower. Our mom-to-be was "over-the-moon" and everyone had a really great time.
