Staycation ideas for March Break - great ways to get out and explore your community with your family this spring break

Spring break is upon us, and for some that might mean jumping on a plane, or getting ready for a road trip - but for most it just means a "staycation" break from the regular routine and a chance to have a bit of a break while our kids are off school.

The Staycation is also a great way to explore your own city - doing some of the things we usually leave to the tourists.

momstown Finds has some great ideas to help you plan your Staycation this spring!

Check out a local science centre.

science kidsScience centres usually have great hands-on learning experiences for kids of all ages, and often have special programs and activities running during spring breaks.

Edmonton has the Telus World of Science. Toronto has the Ontario Science Centre. Ottawa has the Canada Science and Technology Museum.  Vancouver has Science World. You'll be sure to find something in your community or a day-trip away.

Treat the family to dinner out

Ideally, somewhere that kids eat free!

Boston Pizza also has a great kids' menu and some locations run kids eat free specials during spring break.

A Canadian favourite - Swiss Chalet - always has fun toys and activities for kids to enjoy while you enjoy your coffee after dinner.

Do a craft with the whole family

Mural art is another fun activity that the whole family can get involved in. How about a racetrack, an ocean scene, or a rainbow?
