6 Ways to Celebrate Dads This Father’s Day

June 14, 2017tiffanyLove & Relationships, Real LifeNo comments

With Father’s Day just around the corner it’s important to acknowledge the many ways that dads make a difference in our child’s lives. My husband is my son’s personal hero. He looks up to him in a way that makes my heart burst into a million tiny pieces of pride and would rather spend his day with his dad than almost anyone else on earth.

This Father’s Day, celebrate in a unique all that shows your gratitude for all that he does throughout the year for his family.

Take Him Out For His Favourite Meal

Regardless of who typically cooks the meals at home, take some time to enjoy a dinner out as a family to celebrate. Try out a new spot no one in the family has been to before, or hit up an old haunt you haven’t been to in awhile. Either way, a meal where no one needs to cook or clean up afterward is pretty much at the top of every parent’s wish list.

Pamper Him

It’s not often that dads are able to enjoy some true pampering. Book him a massage or even a manly mani/pedi. Because it’s something he wouldn’t typically do for himself, it’s the perfect way to let him relax and unwind without worrying about any other distractions. He’ll probably love it more than he’ll even admit…as long as you don’t announce his spa day on Facebook.

Take a Tour

One of my husband’s favourite pastimes is to tour a local craft brewery. If you have a winery close by, this is another great option. Breaking up the weekly routine and doing something a little different is a great way to spend the day. Some major cities even offer food tours complete with food and alcohol pairings in several hotspots in the downtown core. Whatever you decide, book ahead as it’s sure to be a popular option.

Get Sporty

Dads work hard throughout the week and often enjoy the opportunity to let off some steam by engaging in something active. Scope out family-friendly activities offered at a local community or recreation center or hit up a local pool for a family swim. Hit the trails for a hike and explore a new area you haven’t been before. Whatever you do to break a bit of a sweat will allow dad to re-center and decompress.

Indulge his Sweet Tooth

What man doesn’t love a good fudge brownie overflowing with ice cream or a creamy cheesecake topped with cherries? There are even companies that will package up your man’s favourite assortment of cookies and deliver them to his office if he happens to be stuck inside on his special day. This sweet gesture will be sure to warm his heart.

Let The Kids Decide

What would your kids say if you asked them what they would like to do with their dad for Father’s Day? Their answers might surprise you. Taking the time to acknowledge the ways in which they would like to celebrate their dad will give them a sense of ownership for the day and allow them to express their gratitude in their own way. Dads will surely appreciate the gesture and embrace the plans their little ones have in mind.
