Valentine’s Day Heart Banner

February 20, 2014momstownRecessNo comments
I’ve seen this all over Pinterest and decided to get the girls to tried it out for Valentine’s Day. It was the perfect craft to talk about shapes and to practice their cutting skills. It was helpful to make some lines on the paper for them to follow depending on the age. By draping it across a mantle or even hanging it vertically, it’s a quick and pretty way to add some hearts and a bit of Valentine’s into your décor.

Materials:

Paper (red, pink, white if you want to alternate)
Scissors
Stapler

Directions:

1.  Cut the paper in strips (approx. 5-6 inches).  Shorter paper will hold the "heart shape" better when put together.

2.  Staple 4 strips together.

3.  Bend the 2 outer strips down to meet and add 2 more strips to the outside at the bottom and staple all together.

4.  Continue bending the 2 outer strips down and adding 2 more strips (as above) until you have the length you want.

This craft was super fast and easy!  Small kids they would need help with the stapler or you could use glue or tape.
