Sophia is again at the top, for her fourth year reign and Jackson is now taking the lead over Aiden (after 8 long years at #1).
Over half a million parents shared their baby's name to create this list but how parents then use the list, is quite divided.
There are those parents who want to pick a name that's popular and on the list- wanting to blend in to popular culture. One of my son's made it to #7 on the boy's list…Jayden. It was starting to get popular (for boys and girls) when he was born in 2007 but it wasn't on the list at the time. We know a few Jayden's who are family friends, but none have been in his class- for now. I actually always loved the name and looked to Will and Jada Smith for inspiration.
On the other hand, there are parents who want to avoid those top 100 names at all cost! They want to provide a meaningful name based on their family tradition or maybe they want to create a unique name for their little one. I'm not sure that we will ever see a day when Apple, Axel, Mercedes or Hamish make the top 100- but you never know!
Did your child's name make the list? How did you name your child?
