One thing most parents can relate to is the feeling that you’re not doing enough.
This year’s Campaign To End Violence by the Canadian Women’s Foundation has hit on a fantastic way to turn that guilty sense of not having enough time or money to help others–of “not doing enough”–on its head.
All this month, the Shop for Hope partnership with Winners and HomeSense is offering up a slew of chic, affordable—every item is less than $25—FUN gift items, with 100% of the proceeds of sale going to organizations that help women.
And if you do your shopping on the final weekend of the month, Winners and HomeSense will match every donation made at the cash register.
So you can get yourself a really cute mug, an empowering T-shirt, or some funky journals that would ordinarily be out of reach, AND it’s for a great cause.
And make no mistake, it is a great cause. Your contribution will help support more than 450 women’s shelters and community violence-prevention programs across Canada.
The Canadian Women’s Foundation also speaks out on issues related to violence against women, researches and shares the best ways to address the root causes of violence against women, and builds the capacity of community organizations that help women and girls to move out of violence.
There are two other initiatives as well, this month
Move for Hope, May 30
If you’re in Vancouver, Calgary, Winnipeg, Toronto, Halifax or Montreal at 11 a.m. on Saturday, May 30, join a one-hour workout to raise funds for the Campaign to End Violence. Led by GoodLife Fitness, it’s a way to get active and help end gendered violence.
Text for Hope
Pick up your phone any time this month, and text “hope” to 30333 to make a $5 donation to help end violence against women. It’s really that easy.
