Salt Painted Cross for Easter

March 27, 2014momstownRecessNo comments
It is the reason for the reason, and there are crosses around us to celebrate Easter this month. Introduce your child to this beautiful symbol with some easy crafts.

With Easter around the corner and several confirmations coming this spring, this is the perfect season to introduce your child to the symbol of the cross with a fun craft, using supplies you'll have at home.

Materials:

black construction paper (this hides any paint they get on the paper better than other colours)
white glue
table salt
watercolour paints
paint brush
cup of water

Directions:

1. Outline the shape of a cross on paper using glue.  We added some rays coming out from the cross too.

2. Sprinkle salt generously over the entire picture.

3. Shake off excess salt.

4. Using the water, paint brush & watercolour paints, add colour by touching your paint brush (filled with colour) to the salt.  You don't have to wait for the glue to dry as the salt will absorb the paint from the paint brush.  Don't press down on the salt/glue or you will disturb the shape below.
