With an active two year old and a newborn, life is fun and full of surprises. Like all moms, I’m pretty busy – meaning that I appreciate all the help I can get in the potty training department. Luckily, Pull-Ups has been making the Big Switch easy!

Watch my video to learn all about Madden’s potty training journey:

Shortly after Madden turned two, I started to notice little signals and signs that he was ready to embark on his potty training journey. Some flew under the radar – but like any toddler – most were about as subtle as a freight train! The first thing that he made clear was that he was excited to become a Big Kid as soon as possible. Refusing to wear his diaper and taking it off after it got wet were some of the little ways he let me know that it was time to make the transition to Pull-Ups Learning Designs. “Mommy, I don’t want to wear this anymore!” seemed to become his favourite words during this phase.

While Madden has also used his newborn sister’s diaper-changing routine as a cue for letting us know when he should be changed, I knew for certain that it was time to transition when Madden expressed a newfound interest in the potty (and in some unfortunate potty alternatives, including his dad’s toolbox!)

The toolbox incident really sealed the deal for us. We have been using Pull-Ups Learning Designs ever since, which Madden absolutely loves. With unique patterns that fade when wet, learning to stay dry has been a breeze. Madden’s favourites have been the car and Mickey Mouse designs, while I’m a big fan of the easy-open sides, which make it easy to check for potty breaks. Plus, the stretchiness factor mimics Big Kid undies and teaches my son to put on his Pull-Ups like a Big Kid!

Since we’ve begun potty training, my husband and I have been giving Madden lots of praise whenever he uses the bathroom. For me, the real sign of success has been seeing the pride Madden has knowing he has reached  his goal of becoming a Big Kid – although he’ll always be my little baby boy.

I’d love to hear your adventures in potty training. What worked for you? How did you know your toddler was ready to become a Big Kid? As the number one choice for moms for over 25 years, Pull-Ups is the most trusted name in potty training. They’ve really been working for us!
