When we put up our tree, our boys look through the bins to find the ornaments with their names on them. It's not only a special moment when they find them, it also helps the little ones to start to recognize their name!
We made initial ornaments this year, so that we could all have our own "letter" on our tree.
Materials:
foam sheets/letters or wooden letters
hole punch or hammer and nails (to make the hole)
glitter glue
glue gun
paint
Christmas embellishements (pom poms, etc.)
string, fishing line or ribbon
Directions:
1. Cut out your child's letter from the foam or buy one that is pre-cut. Wood letters are great too!
2. Punch a hole in the top or use a hammer and nail to create a hole in a wooden letter (it's easier to do this before the kids have decorated).
3. Let the kids decorate THEIR special letter. Let them decorate one for little siblings or even the family pets! My sons LOVED to use the glitter glue, but you could paint this or use 3D embellisments glued on (glue gun might work best).
4. Let the letter dry and then add your ribbon or string through the hole.
Decorate your tree with the initials of everyone in the family!
