Pajama and Sleepover Party Ideas: Loot Bag Pillowcases

Hosting a pajama party can be fun, and doesn’t even need to be at night!

Hosting a pajama party can be fun, and doesn't even need to be at night!  No sleepover required for some of these pajama party ideas, including this one to make your own pillowcase!  We love this take-home idea instead of loot bag junk that gets thrown out!

Materials:

fabric markers or paint (we found that regular markers worked well too)

cheap white pillow case

stencils or shapes to trace

Directions:

1.  Give each child a plain white pillowcase (found at Walmart).

2.  Put markers or paint on the table and let the kids decorate their pillow any way they like! Here are some ideas;

  • trace kid's hands and all their friend's hands for a "friendship" pillow
  • get party guests to make a pillowcase for the birthday girl or boy
  • make a pillowcase and then exchange them so that everyone brings home a design from a friend
  • use stencils to add designs and patterns
  • draw their favourite animal, flower, sports equipment, etc.
  • let little kids just draw whatever they like to document their skills at that age- add the date and it becomes a keepsake of your child's artwork!
  • write their name or phrases they love (even their favourite song lyrics)
  • get mom and dads to add their words, handprints and designs to make a family pillowcase
  • keep one pillowcase to do foot or handprints of your child each year- this will become a special Birthday activity to show how much your child grew each year

3.  Let the decorated pillowcases dry and let each child take it home to remember a silly and fun party!
