momstown decided to create a rock “fruit bowl” with our tropical Hawaiian theme. The kids looked for mostly round-ish rocks to transform into oranges, peaches, mangoes and strawberries. An angular rock was painted into a pineapple. A long piece of driftwood told us it was a banana!
If you have an older child, this is a great opportunity to practise details and paint as still life. If you have oranges, mangoes, bananas, peaches and strawberries on hand, put them on the table. Look at the details, notice the pockets, the shades and dimensions. Teach your child how to use the example of the fruit in front of them to guide their strokes.
Of course, if the banana is painted purple, that’s just fine too. We’re all for creative expression! 🙂
