Olympic Handprint Torch Craft for Kids

February 20, 2014momstownRecessNo comments
Set up your own opening ceremonies and make a torch with tissue paper or using these handprints! Kids will love these Olympic craft ideas!

Olympic fever is in the air and even the kids want to get involved in showing their spirit for the athletes through some cute Olympic crafts!  You can get creative by making Olympic rings, medals, flags or even torches!

Materials:

red, orange, yellow and black construction paper

scissors

tape or glue

your child's hands

Directions:

1.  Trace your child's hands onto the red, yellow and orange construction paper.  Older kids will love to trace their own hands or even mommy's hand!

2.  Cut out the hand prints (6 handprints make the best torch).

3.  Tape or glue the handprints to the top of one side of the black construction paper.  Alternate the colours until all hands are taped along the top of the shorter side of the paper (be sure to overlap).

4.  Roll your black construction paper into a cone, with the hands (flames) coming out of the top of one side.  Tape or glue it closed.

Take some time to talk to your kids about all the festivities during the Olympics, using these great books to help with the information!
