Art is all about free expression and free painting is an activity that we do monthly at momstown in the summer and we call it “Picassos in the Park” , Picasso’s is our most popular playgroup event as it’s suitable and fun for ALL age groups – even babies!
Sometimes it is fun to free paint with unusual found objects. For this project we went on a nature walk and found a bunch of pinecones, fallen pine branches and dandelions which we brought home as “brushes” & “stamps”.
All you need for this activity is large paper, tempra paint, a large dish big enough for the paint to be squirted out to roll the pinecone/flower/pine in and maybe a smock.
Then have fun!!
Make patterns with your object on paper, write with it, roll it, smear it… let the kids do what they want and enjoy the whole sensory experience.
