Springtime means mudpies!

Nothing says spring like a satisfying splash in the mud. It’s a great sensory activity for kids, and a fun reminder to parents that hey, little kids are washable, but these memories will leave a lasting mark. So dig out those rain boots and have a good wallow!

Encourage little ones to get dirty this spring! It's a great sensory experience and kids LOVE to play in the mud, especially after a long, snowy winter.

Get them dressed in splash pants and boots, and let them go to it!

If there isn't any mud outside, you can make your own: dirt and water, a bowl, and a spoon! Experts agree – there is much to be said for just letting kids play freely.

Here are some book suggestions along this theme –

Robert Munch's Mud Puddle

Oxford Learning Tree's The Mud Pie.

And here's a fun song to go along with the mud play!

I Love To Play – Sung to "My Bonnie Lies Over the Ocean"

I love to play in the sand box.
I love to play in the dirt.
I love to play in the wet mud.
I squish it and watch it squirt.

momstown knows how to get muddy and incorporate learning into play! In the past, we've had great playgroups focusing on planting seeds, and even some great mud painting!

Embrace the mud! It won't last forever!
