Mixed Media Shamrock Craft for Preschoolers

February 23, 2014momstownRecessNo comments
Create a St. Patrick’s Day shamrock with your preschooler, using a mixture of craft supplies like buttons, pom poms and more!

Those preschoolers sure do love any excuse to get crafty!  We have several ideas for St. Patrick's Day crafts, but one of our newest ideas is a way to let your preschooler practice tracing, sorting, shape recognition and working with different craft mediums!  With a few supplies from the dollar store, you can create this beautiful lucky shamrock craft!

St. Patrick's Day Shamrock craft for Preschoolers
Materials:

heart cookie cutter or shape to trace

green pom poms

green buttons

green paint

green glitter glue

green embellishments

green tissue paper

scissors

glue

paint brush

Directions:

1.  With a pencil, ask your preschooler to trace three hearts to form a three leaf clover (you can do four as well, but it gets very tight).

2.  Glue the green embellishments into each heart.  Preschoolers will learn to sort as they keep one "medium" to each heart shape.

3.  Preschoolers can paint a stem or glue on a pipe cleaner.

4.  We outlined the shamrock with green glitter glue so it finished the project nicely.

Happy St. Patrick's Day!
