Make a Shamrock Man for St. Patrick’s Day

March 6, 2012momstownRecessNo comments
St. Patrick’s Day is coming up, so why not do some fun shamrock crafts at home and make some decorations? This shamrock ‘guy’ has the look of the Irish – maybe he’ll bring us luck!

Materials:

scissors

glue

black

green construction paper.

Directions:

Cut out a shamrock shape (or trace and have your child try and cut it out) from green construction paper. Turn so the stem becomes the 'head'. Add a black hat to the shamrock guy and have your child draw on a face.

Cut out smaller shamrock shapes to use as legs and arms. My son insisted that his guy 'already had arms', so we didn't add those (!). Add googly eyes if you like!

Our shamrock guy has polka dots due to my son's current obsession with dalmations and everything spotted – nothing like kids making the craft their own – we love that at momstown.

Here's a cute song to the tune of "I'm a Little Teapot":

I'm a little shamrock
look at me
oh what color can I be

If you said that I was
the color green
then stand right up and YELL
YIPPEE!
