How to make S’mores

May 21, 2013momstownRecessNo comments
Recently I met someone who didn’t know what a S’more was! Figured maybe we need the real directions so every family can get in on the fun this summer! Here’s how to make everyone’s fave summer treat.
Preparation Time: 5
Cooking Time: 3
Yield:
Description:

S’Mores were originally a girl guide treat and mean “some more”.  A delicious treat that's super popular with kids both for the yummy taste and because the cooking over a flame is pretty fun too. Making S'Mores together as a family is memory making moment.

Ingredients:

Graham Crackers
Marshmallows
Chocolate squares
Fire & sticks for marshmallows

It’s easy – just roast the marshmallows (best if hot & gooey) on a stick over an open flame. Place a square of chocolate on one graham cracker then place hot marshmallow on the chocolate top with the another graham cracker. Squish!

Some people make variations with chocolate hazelnut spread instead of the chocolate square or maybe use chocolate covered biscuits. S'mores are so popular that some grocery stores stock these items together or even have a prepackaged kit so you don't have to wander the aisles.

Don’t have a campfire? A fondue pot flame or BBQ can work too.

At our place the hardest part of S’mores is finding good sticks for the marshmallows – long enough for kids to roast themselves and not be too close to the fire. Once we find good sticks we usually keep them together for next time.

Since it's strawberry season, how about another variation with Strawberry-Banana S'mores?

If you love the taste of S'Mores but not the process, our S'more Cups are a good choice too!
