How to Make an “I’m Bored” Box

March 13, 2011momstownRecessNo comments
Do you think your kids are bored? Are they complaining that they are bored? Here’s a great idea, and it saves you from having to think of things each moment. Make a bored box!

Materials:

shoe box or carton

duct tape in any colour

markers

popsicle sticks

Directions:

Use any old box, any size will do. I used a milk carton and covered it using blue duct tape.

Use popsicle sticks and write one activity on each stick. Color code one end of the sticks for indoor and outdoor activities.

Let the kids decorate the bored box!

Place the popsicle inside the bored box with the colored ends up.

When the kids are bored, have them choose and indoor or outdoor stick (depending on the weather).

Once that activity has been completed, place the stick back in the bored box with the colored end pointing down.

After all of the activities have been completed, flip the sticks back up with the colored end on top.

Here are a few suggestions for the bored box, but please feel free to add more in the comments section. You can make this suitable for toddlers  all the way to husbands?! 🙂

  • Make sidewalk chalk art
  • Go on a scavenger hunt (indoors or outdoors)
  • feed the birds some stale bread
  • Water the plants
  • Collect rocks
  • Play ____________ ( can list several for different cames you have that can be played)
  • Read a book (can be done indoors or outdoors)
  • Water-paint the deck
  • Have a toy car race
  • Write your ABC's in shaving cream
  • and lots more!!!

Ideas for your partner or husband's bored box…. well, I'll leave that to you! 🙂
