Has your house been taken over by FIFA World Cup fever? Soccer lovers around the world are celebrating the World Cup in Brazil with parties and decorations cheering on their favourite country’s teams. Here are some fun activities and crafts so the kids can have some World Cup fun too!

1.  Party time!  Is it your child's birthday this summer?  What about a soccer or World Cup theme party with ideas for loot bags, activities and even cake decorating suggestions!

3.  Making Flags!  Who is your favourite team?  Look online for a great image of their flag and make it with simple construction paper or foam sheets.

4.  Make a cute soccer ball!  We love this simple craft using shapes– a white circle and black pentagons to create a soccer ball with your child.

Have fun this World Cup year and take advantage of the great teachable moments to talk to your child;

  • learn about different countries around the world
  • teach them the rules of sports (what's a red card?  if you child is not behaving, you might want to try to Yellow card-warning or Red card-punishment system in your house)
  • working together as a team
  • importance of supporting your teams
  • staying and being active
