Easy Olympic Medal Craft for Kids

February 20, 2014momstownRecessNo comments
Getting excited for the Sochi Olympics? We sure are! Maybe you are going to host your own Olympics in the backyard or maybe you just want to reenact the Medal Ceremony with these Olympic Medals you can make with your kids!

Really simple and fun to make, you can decide who wins the Gold! We only did silver and gold, but you could find bronze paper as well to do a third medal.

Materials:

lid of plastic container, ie. Pringles or similar chips, yogurt, nuts, etc.

gold tissue paper (easy) or spraypaint (more difficult)

aluminum foil

glue gun or strong craft glue

thick ribbon in any colour

black marker

Directions:

1.  Take your plastic lid (I used Pringles lid) and wrap one in foil and one with gold or metallic tissue paper (alternatively, you could use metallic spraypaint or scrapbooking paper).  Glue it or tape it in place.

2.  Measure the ribbon so that it easily slips over an adult or child's head.  Cut it.

3.  Using the two ends, hot glue them to the back of the covered lid and let it cool.

4.  Draw the olympic rings, write Gold, Silver, Bronze or just add "2014" like we did!

Now you are ready for some of your own Olympic games and ceremonies!  Good luck!  Go for Gold!
