You know how to make a snowflake, but have you ever thought of a ‘snowflake’ Easter egg? Similar technique with a different Easter result.

We've had the kind of spring in parts of this country that makes you wonder whether winter was even here at all… so it was fitting in the momstown craft room to combine snowflake cutting with Easter eggs for this fun and colourful Easter Egg cutout!

Easter egg snowflake

Materials:

  • Construction paper
  • Scissors
  • Glue

Directions:

Fold a piece of construction paper in half and trace a half circle along one side (like you're cutting out a heart but this will be an oval). Cut along the line to form the egg shape.

Make cuts along the sides and edges (avoiding the curved edge) and in the middle – just like snowflake cutting!

Open up the egg and you've got a hybrid of an egg and snowflake. You can stop here or you can go to the next step:

Flip the egg over and glue different colours of construction paper on the back. When you turn it over, you'll see the colours showing through making a very colourful Easter egg!

Hang some in your window for Easter and let the sun shine through them.
