Do you hide veggies in your kids’ food?

January 9, 2017momstownRecessNo comments
You might not be surprised to hear that over 50% of Canadian kids don’t get the recommended 4-6 servings of fruit and vegetables each day. Many moms find sneaky ways to get veggies into fave kid foods – do you?

A quick reminder from Canada’s Food guide:

Gulp.

Ok, some kids love their fruits and veggies, but with others it’s a struggle. Hidden veggies are one way many moms sneak veggies into their kids’ meals.

From snacks to desserts to smoothies, we’ve got lots of great recipes that incorporate hidden veggies into healthy eating.

For great snacks, try:

Carrot pineapple muffins

5 great smoothie recipes

3 snacks using kale, granola, and chickpeas

Hidden veggies in desserts? Yes you can!

Chocolate chip zucchini bread

Brownies with fibre (black beans hidden!)

Chickpea chocolate chip cookies

Where do kids hide the veggies?

New Tropicana Farmstand™ offers another great-tasting way of getting an extra serving of vegetables. Each 250 ml glass includes a full serving of vegetables!

Our taste testers gave it two thumbs up – they thought the taste was great, couldn’t taste the veggies, and loved the different kinds of flavours (we tried Peach Mango and Pomegranate Blueberry). Moms loved that it’s not too sweet and a great supplemental way to ensure kids get their veggie servings each day.
