momstown’s Chocolate Heaven Dessert

February 11, 2015momstownRecessNo comments
Part pudding, part tart, this deliciously rich but easy dessert is perfect for when you end up spending “date night” at home
Preparation Time: 0
Cooking Time: 0
Yield: 0
Description:

Ingredients

  • 1 stick unsalted butter (8 tbsp) – I would actually use a bit less, like 7tbsp instead
  • 5oz unsweetened chocolate, chopped (use the good stuff)
  • 1 1/2 C sugar (I've actually used as little as 1C before and it's turned out well)
  • 1/4 tsp kosher or fine sea salt (or just regular salt)
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 C all purpose flour
  • 1 scant C broken walnuts (optional)

Directions

1. Preheat oven to 350

2. Melt butter in medium saucepan over low.  turn off the heat, add the chocolate and stir occasionally until melted and combined.  Set aside to cool slightly

3.  Stir the sugar and salt into the warm chocolate mixture (use a wooden spoon).  add vanilla and eggs, one at a time, mixing well after each.  stir in flour until just incorporated.  Fold in nuts if using.

4. Pour mixture into pie plate (or just use the saucepan you've done the chocolate in if it's oven safe) and smooth the surface.  Bake 30-35 minutes until the centre is firm.

5. Allow to cool to desired temperature and serve up in SMALL pie like slices – even more decadent? Drizzle with tart raspberry puree and add a tiny dollop of cream … mmmmmmmm

Thanks to a momstown Burlington member for sharing this awesome chocolate dessert!
