Simple Ways to Celebrate Mother’s Day as a New Mom

May 8, 2017tiffanyReal LifeNo comments

Your first Mother’s Day is an exciting and momentous occasion. Unfortunately with really little ones at home it can be a difficult task to actually get out and enjoy yourself. Below are just a few ideas where you can enjoy some family time along with some much needed pampering.

Book a Massage

Many major cities now have massage therapists specifically catered to moms. They have babysitting services right on site that allow you to enjoy a full hour of bliss on your own. The staff is well trained and many even offer a baby swing if you would rather have your baby in the room with you.

Another option is a mobile massage service where the masseuse comes right to your door. Book while your little one is due for a nap and enjoy some R&R yourself! No need to even leave the comfort of your home!

Either way it will be the perfect reset for you!

Enjoy a Mother’s Day Family Brunch

I love that Mother’s Day brunch has become such an extravagant affair in recent years. Have someone special in your life do some digging around for a reservation. There are so many options from gourmet buffets to made-to-order eggs benny. Order some coffee or English breakfast tea, and settle in. What could be better than someone else cooking you a nostalgic brunch? And you don’t even have to clean up afterward. Everyone wins!

Head out on a Mini-Road Trip

accident, car, communication

If you are lucky enough to live close to the mountains, a lake, or even the ocean take advantage of the close proximity and head out on the road for mini getaway! All you need to do is pack a picnic lunch, a diaper bag, and fill the car up with gas! You’ll feel immediately more relaxed the moment you hit the highway!

Be sure to get a loved one to drive. You can read magazines in the passenger seat while your baby sleeps in the back. Not only will you have a great time when you get to where you’re going but you’ll enjoy every moment along the way.

Settle in for a Hotel Staycation

If you have a nice hotel in your area, one of my favourite things to do is to create a little getaway right in your own city. If you’re booking last minute, there are even plenty of bargain travel sites that will also provide you a killer deal. Curl up with a good book, hit the hot tub, and definitely order room service. Let someone else take care of you for a change!

Have a Girl’s Night

Though it may seem counter-intuitive on a holiday that is typically celebrated as a family, sometimes as new mom you just need some time away! Call up some girlfriends and head out on the town. Enjoy a hot meal you can eat all the way through without interruption. Savour a glass of wine without a side of screaming children. Enjoy every moment and don’t feel guilty for a second for taking some much-needed time for yourself. It’s your day after all. Do with it what will bring you joy and recharge your spirit.
