As warm weather approaches, momstown mamas are on the lookout for the best tricycles, balance bikes, and big kid bikes. Whether your little one is on his first tricycle, ready to get a big bike, or wants to lose the training wheels, momstown Finds has the scoop on what’s hot in wheels this spring.

Tricycles

little tikes trikeThe classic Tough Tire Trike from Little Tikes is a perfect first tricycle for your toddler. The surfaces and tires wipe clean, so it can transition from outdoor to indoor play. Designed for 2-4 years.

fisher price barbie trikeThe Tough Trike from Fisher-Price is available in Barbie Princess style. There's a secret compartment under the front seat for treasures too. Designed for 2-4 years.

kettler trikeWe love the pushbar on this Kettler Kalista Trike, available at Mastermind Toys. The seat is adjustable to four positions so it can grow with your child. Ages 1 and up.

smart trikeThe new Smart Trike is getting a lot of attention this spring. Designed as a 3-in-1 vehicle, it morphs from stroller to push trike, to full size tricycle. Ages 10month to 2+ years.

Balance Bikes

Many moms and dad swear by balance bikes as a transition to a big bike, and skip the training wheels stage altogether. Here are some of our favourites:

glide and go balance bikeThe Glide & Go Balance Bike from Radio Flyer features an adjustable seat, traction tread tires, and a ringing bell (arguably one of the most fun things about riding a bike!). Ages 3-5. Available at Indigo Kids.

strider balance bikeThe Strider balance bike has been redesigned and includes smaller handlebar grips for toddler-sized hands, a smaller seat, easy-adjust seat and handlebars, and launch footrests to promote balance skills. Ages 1-5.

plasmabikeThe Plasmabike suits children as young as 18 months and the wide wheels assist children in keeping the bike upright. It also weight less than 8 lbs so it's easy to carry to the park or take to Grandma's.

like a bikeThe LIKEaBIKE range includes the popular Mountain model, which is entirely made of wood, with Alloy rimmed wheels. Hand-built in Germany with an adjustable seat. Ages 2-5.

Big Kids Bikes

Your child is ready to take that next step – here are some great picks for her first 'real' bike. Most come with removable training wheels. If you're not sure what size to buy, check out this handy sizing guide. We recommend buying a bike with a coaster brake for safety.

12 inch supercycleDidn't we all have a bike from Canadian Tire? The classic Supercycle comes in a wide range of colours and styles to suit your child. Pictured here is the smallest version with 12" wheels, rear coaster brake, and hand brake.

walmart disney bikeFrom the Walmart Family Bike Shop, we recommend the Disney McQueen bike for boys who love Cars! Includes coaster brake, front hand brakes, and training wheels.

dazzler bikeThe Avigo Dazzler bike is available at Toys R Us and features coaster brake, front hand brakes, 16" wheels, and those fun streamers we loved as kids!
