Apple Fritters

These are so tasty – the perfect Fall apple treat. Crispy on the outside with warm soft apple on the inside. Kids can help make the batter and decorate with icing sugar.

Authentic Polish Apple Fritters (inspired by my Grandma)

Ingredients:

3/4 cup 1% buttermilk
1 large egg
1/2 cup all purpose flour
1/4 tsp Kosher salt
1/2 tsp plus 1/8 tsp baking powder
2 Granny Smith apples, peeled and cut into thin circles with any core
2 cups canola oil
icing sugar for dusting

– whisk together buttermilk, egg, flour, salt, and baking powder until smooth. Let sit 15 minutes
– heat oil in a wok or large frying pan
– once oil is ready, dip apple rings into batter with a fork, turning to coat and place carefully I to oil
– fry apples until golden (2-3 minutes per side)
– remove to a paper towel lined plate to absorb excess oil
– once cool, transfer to a serving platter and dust with icing sugar
