Alphabet Play- J is for Jewel

October 23, 2013momstownRecessNo comments
The letter J is decorated with jewels during our Alphabet Play program.

momstown Hamilton preschoolers love our alphabet crafts. This week we learned all about the letter J. To make it really fun we added a bit of bling to our upper case J's with some Jewels!  For lower case j crafts, we did "juice".  Did you know that momstown has 26 crafts for lower case and 26 crafts for upper case letters?

alphabet craft with letter J

Materials:

PrePrinted "J" on construction paper

Glue and popsicle sticks

Bags of jewels and glitter (dollar store!)

Directions:

1.  Using popsicle sticks, put glue on each jewel and place inside the "J".  The kids love to glue so getting a pack of plastic jewels was a perfect way to get them engaged with this letter.

2.  Once the "J" is bejeweled, let it dry.

3.  While you are waiting for the glue to dry, have a story about J or jewels.  We always incorporate story time and this week we read about Dora going on a treasure hunt where she found a chest full of jewels in the end. Of course, Dora was a very popular book choice for this group.

Our very proud preschoolers showing off their bejeweled letter J's.
