Get your kids their first day of school outfit! Don’t forget lunch and snack ideas! What about school spirit gear? What are you missing? You must be missing something!

I know a mom in my neighbourhood who adores her children so genuinely, I feel like a complete a**hole when I see her status updates on Facebook. She can’t wait for the next school holiday, so she can spend more time with her kids, and is sad at the end of every weekend. I used to not really believe her, but I’ve come to understand that there are two different types of moms: the ones who feel #blessed to spend every moment with their kids, and the ones who get sick of them, at some point. I happen to be the latter, and I’m not ashamed to admit it.
Here are 6 reasons I’m celebrating back to school:
Make no mistake–there have been moments of pure joy this summer. We have canoed past deer on the banks of a river. We have shouted in delight at thunderstorms rocking the island we were staying on. We have laughed and smiled and appreciated each other.
But I’m done. And I have no doubt half of you reading understand exactly what I mean.
