Brown bag it
Three items – brown bag, doily, cut-out heart. Have kids write their name on the heart and glue to the doily, then glue to the brown bag.
Lace it up
Fine motor practice made fun with this lace-up heart shaped bag. Use a hole punch to make holes along the edge of two hearts (kraft or construction paper work well). Red yarn can be laced through (if you attach a small piece of pipe cleaner on one end it will be easier for kids to lace). Then decorate any way you wish!
Box it up
Take a shoebox and go to town painting, colouring, stickering! Cut out a heart from cardboard and glue to the back with the child’s name – you’ve got a homemade mailbox! Brought to you by Activity Village.
Paper plate
Take two paper plates, and cut one in half. Glue the half plate to the bottom of the full plate – to form a pocket. Decorate any way you like – painting, colouring, glitter or stickers. An option is to put a ribbon on the top so you can hang on a doorknob. Idea courtesy of Free Kids Crafts.
Use your scraps
These adorable kraft bags from Archiver’s Blog are a great inspiration for kids too. Use scrap paper, stickers, cut-out hearts and colouring to decorate small brown kraft bags, perfect to receive little Valentine’s cards.
