2-Step Snowman Picture

With the polar vortex is full effect, we are staying warm inside and doing some fun winter crafts together!

Afternoons with my preschooler means coming up with new and creative ways to work on fine motor skill development for the upcoming Kindergarten entry (yikes!).  Part of developing her little skills is moving from simple one step crafts to something like this multi-step idea.  She loved making the snowballs and turning him into a snowman!

Materials:

items to trace three different size circles (ie.  baby food jar, apple sauce container, yogurt container, soup can, etc.)

white paint

glue

scissors

buttons

googly eyes

construction paper or foam sheets in different colours (for accessories)

Directions:

1.  Dip the items in white paint (filled in circles) OR trace them with a paintbrush dipped in white paint (open circles).

2.  Once dried, decorate your snowman with googly eyes, an orange "carrot" nose, buttons, a scarf, a hat, the decorations are endless!!!

3.  Hang your snowman creation and then head outside to see if you can make him out of REAL SNOW!
